Fun & Fitness Youth Scholarship Program is designed to provide organized sport opportunities for disadvantaged youth. Students who are selected through an application and interview process are paired with a mentor and must be enrolled and attend academic programs offered at WSCC. Parents must also participate in parent training modules and become a member of Parent Booster Club. The program offers youth opportunities to participate in baseball/softball, football, cheer leading and basketball offered through Newton County Recreational Department.
The participants in the program are required to interview with the members from the program board and submit an essay describing their family’s needs. The selection is based on financial need and scholastic performance. Once selected, the participant is required to attend the After School Program at WSCC and the parent/guardian must complete the Parenting Course.
